ABOUT THE SHOW

Evgeny Kissin delights us with Chopin’s Nocturnes, Impromptus, and Polonaises before venturing into the shores of the 20th century.
Evgeny Kissin has reached a unique level of interpretation, mastering technical challenges like no other to reveal the drama and nobility of his programs. After celebrating Beethoven last season, he now returns to Chopin—his Nocturnes, Impromptus, and Polonaises. where his poetry truly shines. He then guides us toward repertoires less familiar to his audience but whose charms we are excited to discover. This includes Gershwin’s three brief Preludes—a brilliant distillation of early 20th-century American jazz influences—followed by Berg’s Sonata, whose unique structure definitively breaks from traditional form, and short pieces by the academic composer Tikhon Khrennikov.
