A weekend to immerse yourself in the deep, warm sound of the cello in all its forms, all the way from Bach to the most contemporary.
The weekend’s third concert presents Alexander Kniazev, successor of Rostropovich and one of the great names in contemporary Russian cello. He will begin the program with Bach’s Suite 5, the only piece presented throughout the weekend for solo cello. Following this, he will be joined by fellow countryman Andrei Korobeinikov for Shostakovich’s cello sonata and a transcription for cello of the “Kreutzer” Sonata by Beethoven.
