ABOUT THE SHOW

Eleonora Abbagnato returns to Paris, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, in the 4 seasons choreographed by Giulano Peparini, on January 19 and 20, 2021.
The Sicilian-born Eleonora Abbagnato has two great loves: the Paris Opera Ballet—where she became the first Italian dancer to be named Étoile—and the Rome Opera Ballet, which she now leads. Her fairy tale began at the age of five, thanks to a neighbor who ran a local dance school. Six years later came a decisive encounter with Roland Petit, who chose her to play the young Aurore in his version of The Sleeping Beauty and supported her in joining the ultimate dream for any young dancer: the Paris Opera Ballet School.
Roland Petit remained a constant in her journey—it was after a performance of his Carmen, in which she danced the title role, that she was named Étoile in 2013. A radiant performer with a commanding stage presence and exceptional technique, she shines in both the classical repertoire and contemporary works (Neumeier, Roland Petit, Pina Bausch, Kylián, Forsythe, Preljocaj, Mats Ek…).
For the past five years, she has directed the Rome Opera Ballet, where she regularly invites Europe’s leading choreographers. In this performance, which she brings to Paris for the first time, she interprets each of The Four Seasons, joined onstage by a handpicked ensemble of dancers. The choreography is by Giuliano Peparini, former Principal Dancer of the Ballet National de Marseille and longtime assistant to Roland Petit—a beautiful way to continue the story.
