ABOUT THE SHOW

For the 1st time performing together in Paris, Matthias Goerne and Evgeny Kissin will explore the palette of Lieder by Schumann and Brahms.

Matthias Goerne is a giant in every sense of the word, both physically and vocally. He is undoubtedly the finest exponent of the Lied of his generation in repertoire which he has been exploring tirelessly on stage and in recordings for over twenty years. Now at the height of his powers, he has complete mastery of his voice and all its nuances, offering the beauty and delights of a peerless legato. A worthy successor to Schwarzkopf and Fischer-Dieskau, he excels at drawing attention to the subtlest of inflections, breathing life into each word or even each syllable. This recital will be nothing short of grandiose and exceptional, featuring another giant of the keyboard and the profound playing of Evgeny Kissin. Parisian audiences will have the chance to discover these two sacred musical monsters together for the first time on the stage of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. It’s a meeting we can’t wait to see!
