The young German-Russian pianist Igor Levit will soon be among the world’s leading performers. Although very much at home in his time (he is extremely present on social networks), he is an artist who prefers depth to haste. His heart beats above all for the German repertoire, for Bach, Viennese classicism and the romantic keyboard. This is an ambitious programme, with two of Beethoven’s so-called ‘late’ sonatas and the no less famous Diabelli variations.
