Igor Levit is back to the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in a recital featuring a symphonic repertoire and Brahmsian confidences.

The leading international venues are vying to welcome the pianist Igor Levit, who is now among the international keyboard elite. The artist whom Télérama describes as “a Mensch, in other words a person remarkable for his human qualities as much as for the beauty and intelligence of his piano” is considered one of the greatest interpreters of Beethoven today. Besides Beethoven, the pianist’s interest also includes the German repertoire, Bach, the Viennese classicism, the romantic piano and the contemporary repertoire in which he excels equally. A regular of the the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the pianist is back in recital with an audacious programme featuring two piano arrangements of two emblematic works from the symphonic repertoire: the Adagio from Mahler’s Symphony No. 10 and the Op. 55 from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3. The pianist has not forgotten his fundamentals, and presents the Klavierstücke from Brahms’ Op. 119. These four pieces for piano, described by the composer as “lullabies of my suffering”, are the last confidences that the Viennese master wrote for solo piano.
