ABOUT THE SHOW

Mikhail Pletnev, Gidon Kremer and Giedrė Dirvanauskaitė reunite on the stage of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées for an intimate evening of nostalgia.

Winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition, the pianist Mikhail Pletnev is not only a leading ambassador of the Russian piano school, but also an outstanding interpreter of international music standards. After a long absence from the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, he returned to the Avenue Montaigne last season with a programme featuring Brahms and Dvořák. In 2023, he is back in good company with violinist Gidon Kremer and cellist Giedrė Dirvanauskaitė, a member of the Kremerata Baltica rightly founded by Gidon Kremer. They will open with Mozart’s sonata for violin and piano K. 304, the only one the musician composed in E minor during a period of mourning, followed by Schubert’s opus 162, also imbued with a nostalgic light. In the second half, they will perform Tchaikovsky’s trio ‘To the memory of a great artist’, a colossal piece in terms of its interpretative demands and its duration (almost 45 minutes), which brings this evening to a finale of sweet elegiac fragrance.
