ABOUT THE SHOW

30pxblankspace 2 - Productions Internationales Albert Sarfati

The dancers of the National Ballet of Canada more than do justice to the inventiveness of Crystal Pite’s writing.

The latest TranscenDanses series is staying true to its winning formula. Choreographer Crystal Pite will present the French premiere of her new work Angel’s Atlas. It was created for the Ballet of Canada in 2020, and showcases once again the choreographer’s powerful idiom in which movement is a whole body experience for dancers. Each limb is a separate entity powered by extraordinary energy and enhanced by particularly effective use of light in both pas de deux and ensemble elements. Themes of life, death, the quest for the infinite, and universal issues speak to us not only as individuals but also collectively. Two additional works by Canadian choreographers James Kudelka and William Yong will also have their French premieres at this performance.
