ABOUT THE SHOW

Yo-Yo Ma has now recorded Bach’s six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello three times, but he never tires of them. His latest album is called Six Evolutions and he is taking him on tour across the six continents.

There was the recording of the twenties and the forties: here is the one of the sixties, which will be the last one according to Yo-Yo Ma. “Sometimes we read a book when we’re twelve and then we read it again when we’re thirty: it’s a different book!” say the cellist when explaining the reasons for this new recording. “The Bach Cello Suites are my lifelong musical companions. For almost six decades they have provided sustenance, comfort and joy during times of stress, celebration or loss. What extraordinary power does this music possess to continue, even today, three hundred years later, to help us navigate through troubled times?”
